Statement of Faith

Approved by YSN’s Board of Directors – February 23, 2021. Accepted by the IRS, in approving our application for tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status, effective 03/01/21. Copied from our Corporate Bylaws, Article 2.

This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith and understanding of God; nor does our Statement of Faith-Expression exhaust our beliefs in how our faith in God and His commands, shapes the way we do His work in loving and serving other people.

We do believe, however, that the following Statements accurately represent the teachings of the Bible, and how our organization should apply them through our corporate efforts. Each of our board, staff, employees, key volunteers, as well as our methods and materials, shall be in complete agreement with these Statements.

  • The Bible: We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, written without error in the original manuscripts. As such, the Bible is our final authority in all matters on which it speaks. We go to the Bible to learn about God, His promises and revealed plans, as well as how we should relate to each other, our neighbors, and our world. (Psalm 19:7-11; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • The Triune God: We believe there is only one God, eternally existing in three equal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 14:10,26; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
  • Sin & Separation: We believe that both men and women were created in the image of God, but all have sinned, and therefore without a personal faith in Jesus Christ, are naturally separated from God, and face an eternal death after judgment before God. (Genesis 1:26; Romans 3:22-23, 5:12, 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:10; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)
  • Jesus Christ: We believe in the perfect deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth and sinless life; His death and shed blood for our sins, in His bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father; in His present rule as Head of the Church, in His present advocacy for us to the Father, and in His future return to rule over a new heaven and earth. (John 1:1-2, 14; Galatians 4:4-5; Hebrews 1:2, 9:24; Ephesians 1:19-23)
  • Salvation: We believe that salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone, and does not depend upon our good works. (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:18-20)
  • New Birth & the Holy Spirit: We believe that when a person believes in Jesus Christ, their sins are forever forgiven, a new life begins, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell and enable them to begin living a godly life. It is only through His power, that we can please God. (John 16:7-8; Romans 8:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 John 1:8-9)
  • Spiritual Unity & Equality: We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, equally important to God, regardless of their racial, gender or class differences. As such, we should seek to treat each other in a God-pleasing manner. (Galatians 3:27-28; Ephesians 4:1-6, 15-16; Hebrews 10:24)
  • The Church: We believe that the one body of Christ (the Church) is composed of every person, both living and dead, who are joined to Jesus Christ by believing in Him. We are commanded to gather regularly with other believers for worship, instruction, discipline, encouragement, and fellowship, as well as celebrating baptism and communion. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 1:22-23, 5:25-27; Hebrews 10:23-25)
  • The Great Commission: We believe our role as an organization, is to help fellow believers obey the final command Jesus gave His disciples: to go to all people groups, making disciples, baptizing*, and teaching obedience to all of Christ’s commands. (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)*Since this organization is not organized as a local church, this organization will not perform baptisms, although its staff and volunteers may do so, as members and representatives of their local congregation.
